Today we had another delicious and hot breakfast before getting ready for our first activity. We split up into two groups to go to do Survivor. We imagined being stranded in a forest and had to split up into three teams to build different types of shelters. Our instructor gave us a score out of ten based on it provide protection from rain, wind and sun, sturdiness and comfort.
The next task was to learn to use a flint and steel to create sparks and light some cotton wool. It was tricky at first but once we learned the knack, we all managed to light the cotton wool and felt very proud of ourselves. Then we feathered sticks to prepare them for a camp fire, which was really difficult as the sticks were very damp. Then it was time to return to swap activities.
Next it was abseiling. We all prepared ourselves with our harnesses and helmets and then made our way to the top of the tower. This was our trickiest activity yet because it was super scary being so high up and then having to step over a barrier and lean back to walk down the wall. We all faced our fear and stood at the top of the tower so felt very proud of ourselves. A few of us also managed to abseil down the tower but there were a few jelly legs at the bottom!
After lunch it was orienteering. We used our map reading skills to solve challenges and play games . Every round earned us points and the chance to move on to a harder game level. Then it was time for the sensory trail. We were all blindfolded and had to use our senses to find our way around a trail. It was so much fun even though it was a little scary at times. We also played a game of animal sounds with our instructors.
After dinner we dressed up for disco and had an amazing time. We had a joined disco with another school and danced off to the very famous Macarena song. Mrs Lewis came to join us for dinner and disco and we were very excited to see her. After another fun filled day we showered and we were in our beds by 9.30 pm.
