Cherrywood Community Primary School

ROAR 2024

This years 2024 ROAR competition saw 4 groups of children design a World Changing idea and submit it as their entry competing against many other schools.

This years Winning Team Cherry Blossom, had the idea of designing an in home animal cleaning machine to not only save you money and time but ensure your animal is clean 'from top to bottom'.

This wasn't Cherrywoods only idea though, our 3 other teams designs included; A device that charges your phone as you walk, a fun hovercraft to get you from A to B using solar panels to power it and finally an automatic robot that cleans rubbish on the streets that should be in a bin.

Unlike last year unfortunately our Cherry Blossom team didn't win the National Awards however all the children developed valuable skills, ranging from team work, communication, creativity, and for some finding confidence in promoting and presenting their ideas.  Although the 4 teams were in direct  competition with each other, it was amazing seeing how they still supported each other and shared ideas to assist each other to have the best possible entry.

All 4 teams, created a prototype made from recycled materials, a catchy jingle or slogan, a poster and a presentation all in a short space of time.  The judging panel could see how hard they all worked and as a result really struggled to a pick a winner and decide which category each team deserved to be in.  This years teams should all be VERY proud of themselves.
