Cherrywood Community Primary School

Pupil Premium

Cherrywood is an inclusive school that recognises the varied needs and barriers children face. Our aim is to ensure that all children are supported in achieving their full potential and are prepared for the next stage of their educational journey and later life.  This aim is supported through the Pupil Premium Grant.

Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.

Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds:

  • generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school
  • often do not perform as well as their peers

The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.

At Cherrywood we have a Pupil Premium Strategy Group whose role it is to plan for the spending of this grant to ensure that the outcomes for disadvantaged children are improved.  This group also meets termly to review the impact of this plan and make necessary adjustments to provision.
