Geography

For our Geography unit, we are focusing on understanding our local area. We have been learning to read simple maps and identify keys to locate places. We have also had opportunities to make our own maps for our school ground.

To further enhance our learning, we would like to take the children on a local walk so they can explore the area. The children will be given maps so they can use what they have learnt in class to improve their skills. We will also carry various engaging activities to develop their curiosity of our local area.

This term in Geography we have been learning about maps. We used maps to locate different parts of Farnborough and used google maps to find our houses! We then went for a walk around our school grounds with a map to record our 'trail' and add missing features. We developed our understanding about 'keys' in maps and are able to explain why they are useful.
