School Lunchtimes
These are an important aspect of life at Cherrywood. Not only are they essential in ensuring children have the nutrients and hydration needed to learn in the afternoon, they also provide a context for developing social skills.
At Cherrywood children eat their lunches in the school hall with many children sitting at round tables where they can have conversations with their friends as they eat.
School Meals
The school is very proud of the meals that children have access to and are provided by Hampshire County Council Education Catering; with many staff also selecting to have as well. There is a three week rolling menu which provides a wide range of meals and currently two options a day.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are currently entitled to Free School Meals through the Governments Universal Infant Free School Meal initiative. They are required to pay for school meals from Year 3 at a cost of £3.20. These meals must be paid for in advance using our online payment system.
We like to invite parents in on a regular basis to try our school meals as a way of encouraging more children to have these. Look out for these events in our calendar.
Free School Meals
Many families are entitled to free school meals due to the benefits they are in receipt of. If you believe you are entitled please contact the school via email as soon as possible. Alternatively you can check your eligibility by using the FSM eligibility checker on the Hampshire County Council website https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/hants .
Packed Lunches
Children can also choose to bring their own healthy packed lunch to school. We have included some ideas that you might like to try.
