Cherrywood Community Primary School

October 2020 - Holiday packed lunch support from Morrisons

At the beginning of the half term holidays the school was approached by Rushmoor Voluntary Services to ask if we were able to provide a venue for the distribution of daily packed lunches for families in the local community, including those from Cherrywood.  These packed lunches were provided daily by Southwood Morrisons in response to the national concern shown that many children may go hungry during the holidays. We were of course delighted to assist opening the school on the Thursday and Friday.

We would like to thank  -

  • Heather Chalkley the Community Development Officer from Rushmoor Voluntary Services
  • Abbie Edwards from Church of the Good Shepherd (who provided a venue on the Tuesday and Wednesday)
  • Elaine a volunteer from Operation Rushmoor Community Action (who handed out the meals at Cherrywood)
  • and especially Denise Lees-Powel the Community Champion from Southwood Morrisons

Our families who received these packed lunches were really grateful for the support given.

We are now working together to see if it is possible to run a similar scheme during the school holidays.
