After a great night’s sleep, everyone was up by 7am and ready for a hearty breakfast. We could have a cooked breakfast, cereal, yogurt or fruit ~ or even some of everything! The hash browns were really tasty.
Our first activity was the tunnel trail. We had to show that we could crawl through different sized tunnels before we were allowed into the main tunnel system. It was a bit nerve wracking for some of us but we all showed amazing resilience and teamwork and everybody went in and played the games.
Then it was straight on to the climbing wall. Many of us found it quite tricky, but again we showed great resilience and ambition to succeed and everyone increased the height that they climbed, with every turn at climbing. We were all so proud of ourselves.
We needed our hearty lunch after all that exercise and there was a choice of chilli, jacket potatoes or sandwiches with salad and fruit for pudding. Then after a quick break in our rooms to warm up, we went to try out some fencing. Mrs Narayan, Mrs Hills and Miss Wrigley all joined in, competing with each other but Miss Wrigley was the winner!
The highlight of the afternoon was the giant swing. We had to be harnessed to a bar in twos or threes and the rest of the group hoisted us up to whatever height we wanted to go before we released a rope to swing down. It was scary the first time but all of us increased the height we reached on our second go ~ except for Mrs Narayan and Mrs Hill. They screamed and really didn’t like it so only had one turn!
After dinner of Katsu curry or Mac and Cheese, we had a quiz night. It was so much fun and Toby our leader, joined in with us. Then it was back to our rooms to shower before bed. It’s been a really great day!
