Admission Arrangements
Joining Cherrywood School
As a primary school, children usually join our reception class each September. If your child is due to start school in September 2026, we will be in touch in April with information regarding transitions days for your child. We look forward to welcoming you and your child to Cherrywood Community Primary School.
We are aware that there are many other circumstances that can lead to children joining a new school at other times, for example leaving an infant school or moving house.
If you are looking for a school place for your child please contact the school on 01252 547896 and make an appointment to speak to our Family Support Worker, Mrs Tammie Gabbott, who will then support you through this process.
Should you make the decision that you would like your child to join our school, then please complete an online application using the link below. We aim to notify parents of the outcome of applications in writing within 10 school days and no longer that 15 school days. Should your application be refused you will be provided with the reason for this and information on how to appeal this decision. Mrs Gabbott will be able to support you with this process.

Induction
We are very aware that starting school at a different time to other children can be quite daunting. At Cherrywood we have a team of children who are our New Arrival Ambassadors. This team is led by our Family Support Worker, who ensures that they are trained and ready to support any new children in preparing to join the school and during those first few important weeks.
