School Lunchtimes

These are an important aspect of life at Cherrywood.  Not only are they essential in ensuring children have the nutrients and hydration needed to learn in the afternoon, they also provide a context for developing social skills.

At Cherrywood children eat their lunches in the school hall with many children sitting at round tables where they can have conversations with their friends as they eat.

School Meals

We’re delighted to share some exciting news! From Monday, 5th January, Cherrywood will be partnering with Chartwells as our new catering provider. This change brings new opportunities to enhance the dining experience for our pupils.

Below are the new menus, which will run on a three-week rotation, offering a variety of tasty and nutritious options. Whilst a deli / packed lunch option isn’t currently included, we’re already in discussions with Chartwells to explore adding an extra meal option soon.

Even better, the cost of each meal will be reduced from £3.20 to £2.75, making school lunches more affordable for families. We’re excited about this new chapter and confident that Chartwells will provide meals that our pupils will enjoy. Thank you for your continued support as we make this positive change.

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are currently entitled to Free School Meals through the Governments Universal Infant Free School Meal initiative.  They are required to pay for school meals from Year 3 at a cost of £2.75. These meals must be paid for in advance using our online payment system.

Free School Meals

Many families are entitled to free school meals due to the benefits they are in receipt of.  If you believe you are entitled please contact the school via email as soon as possible.  Alternatively you can check your eligibility by using the FSM eligibility checker on the Hampshire County Council website  https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/hants .

Packed Lunches

Children can also choose to bring their own healthy packed lunch to school.  We have included some ideas that you might like to try.
